20 mth old Ihsan

There's so much to tell about him now that he is 20 mths old .........but one thing for sure he never ceases to amuse & amaze us with his cute doings, his darling face & his spongebob smile ....
Some of his new habits - when he starts crying he likes to force himself to cough and throw up. Also, just recently he has been crying in his sleep and waking up in the middle of the night screaming. I think he is having nightmares or perhaps just like what org2 tua always say that it is likely to happen when they have so much fun during the day .....might be true though
He loves to try on Papa's shoes, hat and eyeglasses. He adores his Papa so much and I guess he's aware that he's growing bigger and he wants to be like him .
He is always intrigued by dinosaurs (just like his big brother) and like any other boys, he also loves cars, trucks & trains. He's more interested in playing with his brother's toys rather than his own which is also a reason for them to fight .
He has begun to become addicted to t.v. .....As soon as he wakes up in the morning, he goes looking for the tv.......If he hears the t.v. pop on , he comes running from the other room. If he had his way he would watch the tv all day. ......His favorites are Clifford, Caillou, Boohbah, Thomas Train , Teletubbies & Elmo's World off Sesame St.. ..in order to make him stop watching tv for the day we will have to unplug it..... other distraction techniques don't really work but one thing good is he never cries or throws himself down on the floor in a fit of temper if he doesnt get his way .......alhamdulillah (for now) 
He loves music...and he is so clam when music is on...... He would start swaying his body, move his head and especially when he hears the song "Who Let the dogs Out" being played ......he would come running and start dancing
He's very affectionate ...likes to sit on our lap & cuddle......a good little helper too....loves to help us with household chores & cleaning up toys ( though it slows us down a little )
As for his language devt, he has a spoken vocabulary of about 12-15 words. He isn't talking in simple sentences yet, but he likely understands many more words than he can say. If we ask him to go to the room and bring us a pillow (or some other items that we've never heard him name), he'll trot off and return with exactly what we've asked for.  ...
he can take anything to the trash when asked & bring us many other things when asked.
he knows his eyes, nose"no" and mouth"mow" and can say and point to them, other than that :
mama - ( only when in pain or trouble)
papa - (most of the times even when Papa is not around)
kika - ( for King Kong - the latest film)
now - ( for no)
ess - ( for yes)
ti ta go - ( for get set go)
truck & train - (he can say them perfectly)
jo - ( for juice)
wice - ( for rice)
mooooore - ( when he wants more of something )
owie or bo bo - ( when he gets hurt and then will ask us to kiss his boo boo )
daish - ( for dinosaur)
amee - ( for amin at the end of doa makan )
awo - ( for hello - everytime he picks up the phone)
whoa & wow - ( everytime he sees new things )
kol - ( for cool - his brother's fav. word)
pee pee - ( has multiple meanings ....it can mean poo poo , pee pee itself & pot pot (which is fart )

our messy ice cream boy eating the greatest thing ever - a strawberry ice cream cone ..Ihsan has a generous & adventurous palette ( dia memang suka makan & enjoy food )....... he must have inherited Papa's food obsessions
isnt it so darling & cute to see toddlers eating ice cream though it is a messy activity ???
...Has anyone tried the new bite sized ice cream? it claims to be a convenient, less messy version of regular ice cream ...should we replace this pure pleasure of our kids eating & getting messy with this new version of ice cream???

Hand-me-downs

........Ihsan in the hand-me-downs from head to toe ....the cap, the jacket, the shoes ....... all inherited from abg Iman ....
i think all younger kids know the pain of hand-me-downs (laboh sgt or terpendek, sleeves hanging above or below the wrists and worse still - outdated )......however, it really helps to save a buck .....if it' s still good & it fits well , why not

dinosaur figures, dinosaur books, dinosaur cards, dinosaur goodies ...everyone seems to know that he is crazy about dinosaur......most of the gifts he got since he was 2 are related to dinosaurs.....and of course these stuff are great fun for him ...to him none other things can beat dinosaur gifts

there is one person with whom his sweet talk always work no matter what.......in other words , the talk that brings water to a boil and causes wax to melt ....the only aunt that he thinks he has and worse still, the only blood relation that he has met since he's 22 mths ......so he basically doesnt remember the rest of the clan .........with Cik Ja he can say anything he wants.......everytime he talks to her over the phone there's always a request for dinosaur gift.......i guess he has some kind of secrets of persuasion of which he is perfectly aware wouldn't work with his own parents ...so he got a real nice target....
on the day we celebrated his birthday, he received 2 parcels.......one from Cik Ja and another one from Cik Ja's friend , Corwin Sullivan ( a Canadian) .....He got a dinosaur figure from Cik Ja and a dinosaur book from Corwin......not just him, both of us were thrilled to receive those gifts especially from Corwin who is a paleontologist from Harvard......he was definitely glad to know from Cik Ja that Iman is a big fan of dinosaur and whose dream is to become a paleontologist just like him......it is such an honor for our budding paleontologist to be getting a gift from him .....thank you Cik Ja & Corwin for making Iman's fifth birthday even more significant this year.

MY FIFTH BIRTHDAY

these are photos of me turning 5... I celebrated my fifth birthday with my family and a few friends from school......not that big of a celebration though..... this time I could understand much better what birthday means.......my mom told me days before my birthday that "Happy Birthday" means much more than just having a happy day with lots of gifts, cake, balloons, party......there lie lots of other things within the words.......she said to me in a very simple yet meaningful way about why i should remember the blessings of Allah on that day.....i should be thankful for each day i'm alive and as i'm growing older and older each year, I should seize the chance of this life to perform good deeds and be a better person......
