NOT FAIR
|
|
If one gets something the other doesn't it's always 'not fair'......everything must be exactly in the same amount...no matter what....anything from toys to our time and attention...
"if Abg Iman can have goggles for his swimming lesson.....I should have a pair too even that I don't go swimming"
kids often have difficulty accepting this 'not fair' issues....and trying to make life completely fair to them can never be easy.....but we got to do something to make them learn to appreciate their individuality, right????...

PLAY & LEARN
|
|
For a child anything is a toy as long as it is fun....anything that is enjoyable is play.....it is no different to him/her whether the toys we provide cost us a lot or nothing...most educational or not.....all he/she wants is something that can give him/her endless pleasure
As for most parents, we never give up looking for a wide range of toys for our kids who sometimes can be very ungrateful ( refusing to play as they find pots and pans are more entertaining) . It is very frustrating especially after spending hours and a lot of money choosing the 'best toy' for them
..
what we really want is not only for our kids to have fascinating fun but also learn from the toys we've chosen for them .
and what we actually hope is that those toys could help them find out about the world and gradually acquire hundreds of skills which will be of use to them when they become adult members of society.

WEANING
|
|
We did not want to hurry weaning him from his beloved "friends" but somewhere around his 1st b'day, he began to get bored of them and found another friend - bottle. So we started giving him bottle occasionally.
Then after his b'day we decided that it would be just the right time to introduce him cup....and this didn't work overnight..... it took about a month before he was willing to take all his liquid (milk, juice & water) from a cup.
Now he has 'officially' been weaned during daytime....as we haven't abandoned the bedtime feeding. But we don't let him drink while lying flat as advised by his physician because it can contribute to ear infection ( since the liquid may actually flow into the middle ear).
Our next goal is to stop the bottle feeding before bedtime and switch to a cup....as we do not want to repeat the mistake we've made with Iman. He weaned from his bottle at the age of 4

Ready to learn
|
|
Unlike our time, the real world of children nowadays includes the computer. Even a baby loves it .We notice that when we start working on the computer, Ihsan loves to come up to the computer and press on the keyboard..... he would interestingly look up at the screen......from that I gather he could see the cause & effect relationship between what he does to the keyboard and what appears on the screen. I'm sure all parents have had this similar experiences with their kids expressing natural curiosity for the computer.
as for Iman, we got him a few preschool programs that are fun and somewhat educational like Pooh, Disney characters...... he has so much fun with them...
To us it is also an enjoyable experience to be able to sit and explore things together with him ....and it feels great to know what he benefits and learns from computing.......
A big thank you to the computer technology for making learning fun

BREAKFAST WITH IHSAN
|
|
to make every bite counts for our little one is not an easy task especially when his appetite varies from meal to meal, day to day, week to week, month to month.... and at the same time we also want him to feel that eating is something pleasurable.....not a duty to be fulfilled whenever we want him to....
we are still giving our boy a mixture of home-prepared and commercially prepared foods and try making the best of both kinds..... for breakfast and snacks we usually serve him Gerber foods.....and now that he is a toddler we do not want to deprive him from freshly cooked food during lunch and dinner.....so that he can enjoy the same food as everyone else in the family

Now he just cannot wait a second for anything. If he wants it at all, he wants it now.... he's just being his own boss.
He would climb that Spongebob chair but cannot think ahead to the problem of how to get down again
